 We  are a family-oriented TaeKwon-Do school dedicated to empowering our  students and providing them with the tools to live a better life through  fitness, self-defence and discipline. TaeKwon-Do is “an art, a  philosophy, a sport, a way of life.”

Our story

 

Master Roody Etienne

Master Roody Etienne holds an 7th Degree Black Belt and has studied TaeKwon-Do for over 40 years. 

Master   Etienne is a Canadian of Haitian origin. He was born to a hard   working  middle class family and attended College Pratique du Nord, one   of the  most prestigious baptist private schools in Haiti. From 1992  to  1995,  he went to the National School of Arts to study Arts.

His   first martial art was Kyokushin Karate Do, then World Taekwondo   (where  he earned his 2nd Dan) and finally ITF Taekwon-Do from the 1992   to  present. His first international title was in March 1996 at the   Dominican  Republic, where he was the Caribbean Grand Champion in   sparring). His  other accomplishments include:

  • Gold medalist, power breaking, 7th Pan American Champion at Mar del Plata Argentine (November 2004)
  • Gold medalist, sparring, USA Taekwon-Do Championship in Louisville Kentucky (October 2005)
  • Head of the Haitian Team Delegation, 14th Taekwon-Do World Championship in Brisbane Australia (July 2005)
  • Bronze  medalist (patterns) and silver medalist (power breaking),   8th  Taekwon-Do Pan American Games at Gran Tikal Futura, Guatemala   (October  2006)
  • Gold medalist (sparring) and silver medalist (patterns), Red Tiger Championship 2007 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania
  • Silver medalist (sparring) and bronze medalist (patterns), Canadian National Championships in Toronto, Ontario.

When he arrived in Canada from the   USA on July 30th 2007, he studied  as a Machinist and Prototypes at la   Cite Collegiale from 2008 to 2010  (also working there as a   Taekwon-Do  instructor).

In the  summer of 2009,   he started his first free Taekwon-Do program  to help  disadvantaged  children and youth at The Heatherington Albion  Community  Centre. His  passion and dream to is help those in need to help  create  a better and  safer society.
